PureGym is a popular gym franchise based in the United Kingdom. They have locations in various countries, though. The gym advertises that they have low-cost, 24-hour access to its facilities.
While PureGym has many facilities and opportunities available for its users, it does not have saunas or steam rooms. The gym decided to cut costs by eliminating those features, so it could keep its membership costs low.
While PureGym may not have saunas and steam rooms, it does have many other features and we will dive into those now.

PureGym prides itself on keeping the focus on the gym equipment and facilities that you need. PureGym does not have as many “optional” facilities as other gyms, but that also means that you can keep your cost low if your main goal is to get in shape. You will not be paying for facilities that you do not plan to use.
These are the facilities and equipment offered by PureGym. You can check and make sure they have the facilities to target your desires.
If cardio is part of your fitness plan, PureGym has a cardio area with plenty of equipment for you to add various cardio exercises to your routine. Right now, PureGym offers:
- Cross Trainers
- Stair Steppers/Stair Climbers

They have several of each pieces of equipment available, so you do not have to worry about all of the bikes being taken when you head in for your session.
Training with free weights is an important addition to help you build strength and tone your muscles. PureGym offers a free weights area to make it easy for you to build your muscles.
They offer dumbbells in weights up to 50kg (110 lbs). PureGym also has weights benches and squat racks so you can work on your bench presses and squats. Most PureGym locations also offer plate-loaded weight equipment to help you build your strength.
Fixed Resistance Weights
Free weights are not the only offering at PureGym to help you tone. Fixed resistance weights are available at all PureGym locations. These machines can help you target particular muscle groups as you seek to build your strength in particular areas.
For many people, fixed-resistance weights are a great start while you build your skills and comfort before using free weights.
At PureGym, there are fixed resistance weight machines for:
- Chest presses
- Shoulder presses
- Bicep curls
- Lateral pull-downs
- Leg presses
- Hip abductors
- Ab machines
Specific locations may offer more fixed resistance weights to help you refine your fitness routine.
The Fitness Studio at PureGym offers group classes ranging in experience level so that there is something for everyone. The classes are offered by fitness professionals, so you can choose whichever class will help you meet your goals.
The fitness studio includes classes for cardio fitness, sculpting and toning, yoga and pilates, and functional strength training.
Within those groups, there are classes available for:
- Box Fit
- Absolute Abs
There are over 50 group exercise classes offered each week at most PureGym locations, so if you benefit from a group of like-minded individuals working out with you, there are plenty of options available.
If your goals are more focused on functional strength training, there is a whole section of each PureGym dedicated to those exercises. There are pads and jumping areas to help with body-weight exercises. The functional space also has jump ropes, medicine balls, kettlebells, and battle ropes.
There are clean, large changing rooms with lockers in each PureGym location. You can change in a clean space and lock up your valuable items while you exercise. Each gym also includes hairdryers and has sockets where you can use your appliances after the gym.
The PureGym changing rooms do not include towels or toiletries like shampoo and conditioner, so you will have to bring those with you. You will also need to bring your padlock.
