How to Clean a Sauna Suit?

You can clean a sauna suit by washing it with your hand or by tossing it into the washing machine. We have covered both methods and recommend reading all the steps before deciding which suits you best.

That said, we do think that if you treat the sauna suit like a sweatsuit and use it to work out on a regular basis, then hand wash it every time you use it. But if you use the suit sporadically then machine washing it once a week or once a month should be enough, depending on the frequency of use.

Now let’s learn how to wash a sauna suit:

Important: Read Care Label

The first step is to read the care label. Every sauna suit has a care label where the manufacturers instruct how to wash the suit. The instructions may tell you that your sauna suit can only stand hand washing and not machine washing. If you machine-wash it without reading the care label, you might end up ruining the suit.

That said, some sauna suits are both hand and machine-friendly. In that case, simply select a method that is convenient for you.

Method 1: Hand Washing the Sauna Suit

There are 3 major steps involved. Those are:

i. Wash the Suit With Water

Wash the suit with water whenever you wear it. There’s no need to use detergent every single time but make sure you are washing it every time you use it.

It’s worth noting that if you are in the habit of taking a shower in your sauna suit post-workout or post-sauna, then that can count as a form of washing.

ii. Wash Sauna Suit With Detergent

As we said in the previous section, you don’t need to use detergent every single time but you will need to clean the suit properly once in a while.

Regular users should wash the suit with detergent once a week and irregular users can wash it once a month.

All you need to do is pour mild laundry detergent into a tub or bucket of water and soak the suit for 15 to 20 minutes. Scrub the suit a little to get rid of any dirt or grime. Then squeeze out the excess water.

iii. Hang Dry Sauna Suit

Whether you cleaned the suit with plain water or used detergent, you will need to hand dry the suit. Some manufacturers leave instructions on how to dry a sauna suit so make sure you check the label. No instructions? Don’t worry. Just hang the suit up right after washing it when it’s still wet.

Note that you may want to dry it under the sun but that can cause damage to the material so we recommend letting it dry overnight.

Method 2: Machine Washing the Sauna Suit

Just like the hand-washing method, in this method too there are 3 major steps involved.

i. Set the Right Machine Settings

Cleaning the suit in the washing machine can be a disaster if you are not careful. For instance, if you set the machine on a spin cycle then you’ll end up ruining the fabric.

You should find some form of instruction on the care label. But if you don’t then set the machine to a gentle cycle

ii. Use Gentle Laundry Detergent

Pour a mild laundry detergent, place the sauna suit inside the machine, close the lid and start the cycle. And as we said earlier, you can wash the suit once a week if you are using the suit on a regular basis. If not, then washing it once a month should be fine.

iii. Hang Dry Sauna Suit

Check the care label to see if there are any instructions on how to hang the suit. If not then, just hang the suit immediately after it is washed. We recommend keeping it away from the sun as sun rays might ruin the material. Hang it overnight and it should dry by morning.

And that’s it, folks! You now know how to wash a sauna suit.

FAQs

Conclusion

You now have a clear understanding of how to clean a sauna suit effectively, ensuring it remains fresh, hygienic, and ready for your next workout or sauna session. Cleaning your sauna suit regularly is essential to prevent the buildup of bacteria and maintain its functionality and longevity.

We presented two methods for cleaning your sauna suit: hand washing and machine washing. Hand washing is recommended for regular users, as it allows you to clean the suit more frequently and efficiently. Using water alone after each use can suffice, but periodically washing with mild laundry detergent will ensure a thorough cleaning. Simply soak the suit in water and detergent, scrub it gently to remove any dirt, and then hang it to dry overnight.

For those who use the sauna suit less frequently, machine washing once a week or once a month can be sufficient. It’s essential to set the machine to a gentle cycle and use cold water to preserve the fabric’s quality. Remember to avoid tumble-drying, as excessive heat can damage the material.

Before proceeding with either method, always check the care label on your sauna suit. The care label provides specific instructions from the manufacturer on how to clean and care for the suit properly. Following these instructions will ensure that your sauna suit remains in top condition and lasts for a long time.

Whether you have a Boxraw sauna suit or a Hotsuit sauna suit, the cleaning principles remain the same. Always use cold water and handle the suit with care to avoid damaging the fabric or compromising its performance.

By maintaining a clean and well-cared-for sauna suit, you can enjoy its benefits for an extended period, whether you’re using it for workouts, sauna sessions, or both. Remember, proper hygiene and cleanliness not only contribute to your overall comfort but also play a vital role in ensuring that you get the best possible experience from your sauna suit.

Now that you have mastered the art of cleaning your sauna suit, you can confidently use it in your fitness routine or relaxation sessions with peace of mind. So, put on your freshly cleaned sauna suit and enjoy the full benefits it offers for your health and well-being. Happy sweating!
